While dispensing experience is preferable, it is not essential; willingness to undergo training and be flexible in the workplace is. Working as part of a team, you will play an integral part in the supply of medicines to patients who use our hospital services. Main duties of the job

Working within a busy department, you will need good communication skills to work with your team and service users. You must be able to present yourself in a professional manner and work to our trust values. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential as you will be involved in the supply of medicines. You will need to be able to prioritize and adapt to the needs of the service throughout the day to ensure that as a member of the pharmacy department, you deliver a cost-effective and high-quality service. If you do not already have a Level 2 Pharmacy qualification, you will be required to complete this training as mandated by the General Pharmaceutical Council. Applicants without a Level 2 Pharmacy qualification must be eligible to apply for Apprenticeship funding to be considered for this role. Key Responsibilities/Duties: Dispense and issue medicines from the Pharmacy Department, including extemporaneously prepared products, controlled drugs, and unlicensed medicines, in accordance with the policies, procedures, and safe systems of work. Order and supply pharmaceuticals as part of the ward stock top-up service. Load medicines received into the automated dispensing machine. Answer basic reception queries within your area of competence and refer to senior assistants or other pharmacy staff as required. Input data into the Pharmacy computer system to ensure that all appropriate records are made and kept up to date. Receive medicines into the Pharmacy Department and ensure that the documentation and computer entry are carried out in a timely and accurate manner. Investigate and resolve delivery discrepancies, liaising with invoicing staff and making appropriate records of all investigations and outcomes. Ensure that all pharmaceutical preparations are stored appropriately. Rotate stock at the point of good receipt. Deal with routine enquiries. Ensure that all unused medicines (if appropriate) returned to the pharmacy are recycled in accordance with the safe systems of work. Manually handle IV fluids, bulk feed deliveries, and manoeuvre cages and tote boxes for delivery toward departments and outside clinics. Deliver medicines to wards and departments as required. Deal with frequent interruptions, e.g., telephone enquiries from internal and external customers. Fix the robot when basic errors occur. Participate in daily stock counts. Issue medicines which are on the “To-Follows” list. Participate in development and project work in line with the objectives of the Trust and Pharmacy Directorate. Deal with ad hoc stock requests from wards/departments and outside clinics. Supply emergency orders. Ensure that procedures are carried out in accordance with current legislation and regulations. Participate in weekend, Bank Holiday, Statutory Holiday, early morning, and evening services. Undertake other reasonable duties commensurate with this role as required. Work across sites where required. Adapt to changes that may occur, affecting current practices within the Pharmacy Department. Person specification

Qualifications

GCSE grade C/4 or above (must include Maths and English) or equivalent such as functional skills. Experience

Experience working in a Healthcare Environment. Experience of stock rotation. Experience of working in stores and distribution. Skills
