The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital is a modern, forward-thinking, large teaching hospital employing 10,000 staff. It has strong links with both the School of Pharmacy with onsite teacher practitioner posts and the Medical School at the nearby University of East Anglia. The Pharmacy Department provides a comprehensive pharmaceutical service across the Trust and to several external community units. We are a large and busy department with over 180 staff members. There are varied roles, and we all work as a team to provide the different functions and services whilst maintaining a high level of patient care. Functions of the Pharmacy Department include the ordering, receipt, and supply of medicines to wards and departments throughout the Trust/external units. This includes dispensing for inpatients, outpatients, community units and supplying ward stocks averaging around 2,500 items a day. Wards and external units are provided with a clinical service with Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. The Pharmacy provides Aseptic Services such as the preparation and supply of chemotherapy and other sterile products. We have a Quality Assurance team that works to ensure that our products are prepared and supplied to meet the highest quality standards. Main duties of the job

The post is based in the Stores area of the Pharmacy Department which is responsible for ensuring that wards and the dispensary have appropriate supplies of medicines for patients. Part of the role will be to visit wards, check and supply necessary stock, ensure stock is fit for use, and receive and book in stock deliveries. This is a busy, active role, and we are looking for someone who is a team player with good attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and respond to a frequently changing environment. The post holder will also help with returned medicines and ensure that they are disposed of appropriately. We will provide the required training to complete the units of the NVQ2 or equivalent qualification in pharmacy services within 12 months. The post will involve using the pharmacy computer system and dispensing robot for which training will be given. Both full time and part time hours are available to be worked Monday to Friday. There is also a requirement to work 1 in 10 weekends (09:00 - 17:00 Saturday and Sunday) with corresponding time off during the week and to participate in the bank holiday rota, currently minimum 1 per year (09:00 - 17:00). To assist with the stock control of medicines and sundries, including stock rotation, putting goods away and return of goods from wards and departments using the JAC computer system within Stores. To receive and unpack medicines and sundries and enter into the JAC computer system. Processing of medicines for disposal. Care and cleaning of designated area used for stocking of medicines and care of equipment used in Stores. Processing of extra stock slips for extra supplies of medicines for wards and departments. To participate in the ward top-up scheme for the ordering, assembly, checking, delivery and stock rotation of drug supplies to wards and departments. Care and cleaning of designated area used for the stocking of medicines and equipment used in Dispensary. To assist with the stock control of medicines and sundries, including stock rotation and putting goods away in Dispensary. To assist with the daily distribution of bulk fluids to wards and departments. Qualifications

GCSE or equivalent passes in Maths, English and Science NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent Experience
