We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy Team at HMP Winchester, a Category B male prison just outside of the city centre. HMP Winchester has free onsite parking as well as excellent transport links - there is a bus stop opposite the site and the train station is a 10 minute walk.
This is a fantastic entry route into a Pharmacy in a unique environment, with lots of opportunities for training and career development!

As a Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will: Complete general dispensary duties and stock management Be an active member of the Pharmacy team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings Receive prescriptions and stock returns from wing-based clinical areas Participate in dispensing of prescriptions and medical equipment If you are interested in career development, we have a wide range of opportunities for you to develop your skills and experience, which include both internal and external options for development and learning. Our new Pharmacy Assistant will: Ideally have an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills/equivalent or working towards Medicines handling experience desirable but not essential Experience within a Pharmacy environment (such as community or hospital-based) is desirable but not essential Any experience with ProScript or SystmOne would be a bonus A non-judgmental and compassionate approach Excellent communication skills Good IT skills and IT literacy Secure environments are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work.
