Job summary The Pharmacy Clinical Trials team at North West Anglia Foundation Trust is expanding and is now looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working Pharmacy Support Worker to join our friendly team on a one year fixed term basis. The role requires working across sites, mainly at Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital, but may also require visiting other Trust sites. The successful candidate must have excellent organisational, communication and computer skills, be methodical in your working and be able to maintain excellent attention to detail. You will also need to be able to demonstrate the Trust values and meet the essential criteria as specified in the person specification. Hospital or Clinical Trials experience is preferable but not essential, as full training will be provided. Main duties of the job To assist the Chief Pharmacist in providing comprehensive specialist pharmaceutical care and medicines management by the provision of safe, appropriate and effective clinical pharmacy services within North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, and areas supplied under Service Level Agreements, ensuring compliance with current medicines legislation. To act as Clinical Trials Technician for the Trust. To participate in the ordering, receipt, clinical supply, monitoring and recharging of medications used in clinical trials approved by the Trust, providing appropriate counselling for patients as required. Person Specification Education and Qualification Essential Level 2 pharmacy qualification approved by the GPHC or equivalent to include dispensing modules or equivalent dispensing course Commitment to continuing personal development Experience Essential Proven track record in Pharmacy Desirable Experience of staff supervision Previous experience of working in a hospital pharmacy Knowledge Essential Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Knowledge of current medicines legislation Desirable Understanding of pharmacy stock control computer system Previous experience of working in a hospital pharmacy Experience of working in an aseptic unit Key Skills & Abilities Essential Good customer skills Ability to work with minimal supervision, using initiative and working to departmental Standard Operating Procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a team Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to prioritise own workload effectively Ability to deal with staff, patients and their relatives in a sympathetic manner and within competency Other Essential Appreciation of confidentiality issues Flexible approach to workload to meet service needs Ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
