Job Summary

Are you a pharmacy technician with a broad range of experience, good communication skills and a desire to improve services? Do you want to make a difference to patients every day? Are you looking to expand your pharmacy knowledge and skills?

If the answer is yes, then we want YOU to join the Velindre Cancer Centre Pharmacy Clinical Service.

You will work as part of a specialised, friendly team whilst also working independently using your own initiative to manage problems, resolve enquiries and urgent requests, referring to the Senior Technician(s) where necessary.

There will be plenty of variety in your role and a typical day may involve time in one of our dispensaries, day units, patient clinics or ward, all the time supporting our patient population across South East Wales to get the best from their medicines.

Whether you're starting out in the profession or already qualified, we're looking for someone who is friendly and organised with a passion for providing excellent patient care.

Pre-registration pharmacy technicians undertaking the final stages of L4 Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice/NVQ L3/BTEC Pharmacy services (and preparing to register), and community pharmacy technicians are encouraged to apply; full training will be provided.

If a training period is required, your contract will be issued under Annex 21: 75% of a Band 5 for 12 to 18 months or until qualification is achieved.

Main Duties of the Job

To assist in the provision of a pharmaceutical service to Velindre NHS Trust and outside the trust under service level agreements.

To dispense Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) and non-SACT to patients under the care of Velindre NHS Trust and to ensure the provision of a high quality, patient focused pharmaceutical service to patients.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
