An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Technician to join the Offender Health Directorate working at HMP Fosse Way, a Category C Resettlement Prison.

You will work as an active member of the healthcare team based at HMP Fosse Way to ensure delivery of a specialist high quality, safe pharmacy ordering, distribution and supply service which reflects National and Local Policy and Priorities, considering the high level of security that must be maintained at all times.

To provide information and advice to patients and colleagues about medication and processes where appropriate.

Main duties of the job As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be part of a highly motivated and skilled team who provide integrated healthcare (physical healthcare, mental health and substance misuse services).

Support all aspects of the supply and distribution of medications, to ensure the safe, timely and accurate provision of medication to patients. Ensure that all medications are ordered, via the electronic prescribing on SystmOne. Responsible for completing medication reconciliation for all new arrivals, ongoing medication optimisation support and reviews, and take the lead on safe storage and use of medications. Deliver a Smoking Cessation support programme and administer Opioid Substitute Treatment.

Job description Job responsibilities The Offender Health Care Group is one of the largest and most successful providers of prison healthcare in the UK.

Confirm medication histories (medicines reconciliation) by appropriate means and with patient consent. Undertake accurate Risk Assessments to ascertain whether patients may hold their medications In Possession or otherwise. Respond to and process requests for medication in order to facilitate the process of drug administration and supply to patients. Check prescriptions generated to ensure accuracy and process any out-of-date prescriptions. Responsible for ensuring medicines kept in Emergency Bags are properly maintained and replenished. Respond to MHRA drug alerts through facilitation of appropriate action within prison healthcare. Accurately input, process and file data, both computerised and paper-based, to ensure accurate record keeping. Contribute to the development of and support implementation of medicine management strategy and associated services and projects.

Person Specification Qualifications & Training Essential

BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent. Current Professional Registration as Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Evidence of up-to-date CPD portfolio. Desirable

Extensive experience of working in pharmacy. Evidence of Team working. Experience of accurate computer-based stock control. Clear understanding of the role of pharmacy technicians in prescription management. Desirable
