The RADlab at King’s College London is seeking to recruit a PhD student for the Neural-driven, active, and reconfigurable mechanical metamaterials (NARMM) project. The project is mainly experimental and aims at developing the first generation of reconfigurable active mechanical metamaterials for wearable robotics, with potential for high impact publications and science advances. The Project is in collaboration with Harvard University, MIT, University of Luxemburg, Bristol University, and City University of New York and five industrial partners, with the possibility to spend some time in partner institutions/companies. The RADlab is a state-of-the-art facility in the centre of London (Strand Campus). The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative and vibrant team of 8 PhD students and 3 PostDocs working on related topics. Start date is October 2024. Funding is available for 3.5 years and covers tuition fees at the level set for UK students, approximately £6,936 p.a. and a tax-free stipend of approximately £21,237 p.a. with possible inflationary increases after the first year. A limited number of UKRI fully-funded studentships are available for students classified as International Students. Please apply through our normal application route.
