Full time
Location: Basildon
·
Job offered by: SYNLAB UK

We are looking to recruit Phlebotomists to expand our team working across Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital, Southend University Hospital, and other local community clinics throughout South Essex. As a Phlebotomist, you will be taking blood samples from patients for all our pathology services, ensuring correct order of draw and safe specimen handling using the appropriate PPE.

The successful candidate will undergo formal training while taking part in the “phlebotomy academy.” The academy comprises a full week in a classroom setting where venepuncture theory, practical, and first aid skills will be taught. These skills will then be transferrable into the phlebotomy clinics, wards, and community service to enable individuals to confidently undertake duties as a member of the phlebotomy team.

This role is ideally suited for someone who is caring, friendly, and would like to be a part of a team that contributes towards patient care. Previous healthcare experience will be advantageous for this post. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work and communicate with a large team across multiple sections.

Our Phlebotomy services operate Monday to Sunday and bank holidays from 07:00 am – 20:00 pm. Due to the wide operating times, you would be working a combination of shifts each week, which would include early and late shifts. Weekends and bank holidays are essential and also an expectation for this role; however, they are on a rotational basis and will attract additional enhanced pay.

A full driving license and access to your own vehicle is essential, as you will be required to travel to a variety of community clinic locations. Previous experience is not essential as we offer full training. Successful applicants will undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
