We are looking for an accomplished phlebotomist to join our busy GP Practice. We are seeking to appoint a part-time Phlebotomist who is clinically skilled in general blood taking and can also assist the nursing team in other areas of patient care. You must have excellent inter-personal skills, be able to use our clinical IT systems, and have great attention to detail. Main duties of the job

The key elements of this role include: Taking, collecting, and storing samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures. Accurate labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity. Using SystmOne and ICE. About us

Penny's Hill Practice is located in Ferndown Town Centre, within walking distance to all amenities and the local supermarket. The practice shares purpose-built premises with Orchid House Surgery, providing a range of community services from attached facilities. Penny's Hill Practice is a six-partner practice offering a range of primary care and community health services from Ferndown Medical Centre. We run a personal list system for our 6 GPs and have approximately 8000 patients registered with us. Our team includes 3 practice nurses, 1 Phlebotomist, 1 Phlebotomist/HCA, 2 tracker nurses/HCAs, and our reception team. Job responsibilities

Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the phlebotomist will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. Person Specification

Qualifications

Good standard of general education. Phlebotomy skills and experience. Phlebotomy Training and Relevant Update. NVQ Level 2 Phlebotomy or equivalent. Health Care Service Certificate and/or diplomas. Skills

Understand own role within the team including accountability. Work flexibly as required. Actively participate in team meetings. Engage in open and supportive relationships with colleagues. Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues. Maintain clear electronic and written records. Recognise when to ask for help and assistance. Awareness of issues within the wider health economy. Awareness of public health issues in the local area. Behaviours
