Usual hours are Monday to Friday 0800 - 16:30, but occasional early starts will be required (0700 - 1530). Our client is a leading research service provider who covers a range of services within pharmaceuticals, drug discovery, and clinical trials. A large part of their research necessitates the use of blood and various other biofluids, given by donors, to complete a plethora of disease research with the aim of treating disease and helping with early diagnosis. They are recruiting a trained phlebotomist into their team to collect blood from volunteer donors. If you are looking to continue your career as a phlebotomist, then this could be a great opportunity. The Role As a Trained Phlebotomist, you will be working in a professional environment where you will be expected to adhere to the Human Tissue Act (HTA), ISO 9001, and other internal safety standards. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: Collection of blood samples with correct labelling of vials and bags. Ensuring the donor's welfare is kept as a priority at all times. Ensuring donor identification has been thoroughly completed. Maintaining a clean and tidy workspace. You may also be involved in other laboratory duties including: centrifugation, microbiological testing of other biofluids, reagent preparation, PBMC isolation, etc. Leukapheresis - this is a longer blood donation that isolates white blood cells while returning the rest of the blood back to the body. Full training will be provided on this. The Candidate – Skills and Experience Needed The ideal candidate will have the following: Must be a Qualified phlebotomist (UK Certification) (essential). Must have at least 6 months of post-certification phlebotomy experience (essential). The ability to converse, support, and comfort donors in a calm and reassuring way (essential). Proven ability to manage and maintain written records of donations (essential). The ability to work effectively within a team and individually (essential). The ability to work under pressure (essential). Previous experience in apheresis or leukapheresis (desired). Right to work in the UK without the need for visa sponsorship now, or in the future (essential).
