Location: Folkestone Contract type: Temporary (Full time) Fawkes & Reece contact: Shay Tobin (Brighton Office) Job Description: We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Pipe Layer to join our team. As a Pipe Layer, you will play a vital role in the construction and installation of underground utility pipelines. You will be responsible for accurately and efficiently laying pipes, connecting fittings, and ensuring the proper alignment and grade of the pipeline. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of various construction projects, such as water supply systems, sewer lines, drainage systems, and more. Responsibilities: Read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and specifications to determine pipe layout, depth, and alignment. Excavate trenches using hand tools or machinery, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and regulations. Install and position pipes in trenches, carefully aligning them according to the project specifications. Connect and seal pipes using appropriate fittings, couplings, and joints. Inspect and test pipe systems for leaks, using pressure gauges or other specialized tools. Backfill trenches and compact soil to restore the ground surface to its original condition. Operate construction equipment such as excavators, loaders, or pipe-laying machines, as required. Collaborate with a team of construction workers and coordinate tasks to ensure efficient workflow. Adhere to project schedules and deadlines, reporting any issues or delays to the supervisor. Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Requirements: Proven experience as a Pipe Layer in the construction industry. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, construction plans, and specifications. Sound knowledge of different types of pipes, fittings, and joining methods. Familiarity with excavation techniques, trenching, and backfilling. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment effectively and safely. Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and work in outdoor conditions. Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in pipe alignment and grade measurements. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
