·
Full time
Our mission is to create better places through great design and we’re looking for innovative problem solvers to help us. PJA is a leading independent transport, engineering and placemaking specialist with offices across the UK and Australia. We design places for people. Every day, our people are providing expert advice to planners, developers and industry leaders across the UK and beyond. The roads you drive down, the streets you live on, the river park where you eat lunch…we design it all. Extension to the A38 cycleway? That’s us. Naturalising the River Rea in Longbridge? Also us. Cleaning up Ironbridge Power Station? That’s us too. From creating a new community to reshaping an existing one, from working on nationally strategic routes to local streets, from designing roads and pipes to landscapes and rivers; we channel our creative ideas and innovative thinking to make lasting places for people. Opportunities on offer

We are looking to recruit candidates to work within our transport, engineering and placemaking teams in: Birmingham, Bristol, London, Manchester or Reading. We welcome your application if you have graduated within the last 12 months, or are due to graduate in 2024, with a predicted 2.1 (or above) Bachelor’s degree and/or a Master’s degree in one of the following subjects: Transport Planning Planning Geography Civil Engineering Water Engineering Flood Risk Management Geology Environmental Geoscience Engineering Geology How to apply

Sound like a bit of you? Applications are now open for those interested in starting immediately or from Summer 2024. Please provide your office location preference in your covering letter. What will we do for you?

We’ll provide a supportive, friendly and relaxed environment where innovation and personal development are encouraged. We will drive your career forwards and help you to achieve your potential. You’ll have a dedicated mentor who will look after you, making sure you’re ok and on a path that you’re happy with and working at a pace that suits you. We’ll provide you with support towards professional qualifications and of course a competitive salary and benefits package including private healthcare and cycle to work scheme. So what would I actually be doing?

Once you get going, and you’re feeling confident, you could be in a client meeting one day talking through a project, visiting a site the next to carry out assessments, engaging with the general public or key stakeholders in a workshop setting, or simply working at one of our amazing open plan offices. When you’re in the office you’ll work in a variety of ways. You could be creating a plan using GIS, modelling the impact of a new development on the highway network, designing a cycle route or new junction, writing a report on how we can reduce the impact of flooding, preparing a business case for funding new infrastructure or helping to develop a city wide transport and movement strategy. You’ll gain a thorough insight into all areas of your chosen discipline, gaining a detailed understanding of what we do and how we work together, and then with our guidance you can tailor your route in the direction that suits you.
