Plant Fitter/Mechanic

to join our growing team. This role will involve maintaining and repairing a variety of plant equipment to ensure smooth operations and maximum uptime. Job Description: As a Plant Fitter/Mechanic, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing various types of plant machinery and heavy equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring the operational efficiency of our fleet, diagnosing mechanical issues, and performing repairs on-site or in the workshop. Key Responsibilities: Conduct routine maintenance checks and repairs on plant machinery, including specific types of machinery, e.g., excavators, loaders, and forklifts. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, ensuring that repairs are completed efficiently and to a high standard. Perform breakdown repairs and carry out preventative maintenance programs. Maintain accurate records of service activities, repairs, and parts used. Collaborate with the wider team to ensure the availability and reliability of machinery. Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations, following all necessary procedures for equipment handling. Support the planning of maintenance schedules and parts ordering. Requirements: Proven experience as a Plant Fitter/Mechanic or in a similar role. Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy plant and machinery. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Experience with welding and fabrication is an advantage. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Valid driver's license and a good driving record. Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or plant maintenance preferred (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
