Leo Recruitment is seeking a Senior AWS Platform & Application Engineer on behalf of a FinTech start-up organisation who found a gap in the market to deliver a bespoke, unique payment system designed specifically for the yachting industry – a niche market with few competitors, who are on course to becoming the market-leader in this sector!

Salary & Benefits:


  • Competitive salary between £50,000 - £70,000 depending on skills and experience (this may be slightly negotiable for the right skills, background and experience level)

The Role: Senior AWS Platform & Application Engineer


  • As an AWS Application & Platform Engineer, you will be given the opportunity to dedicate your passion to creating cutting-edge technology and delivering seamless, high-quality services.
  • You’ll be instrumental in building TypeScript APIs deployed on AWS through Terraform, leveraging Serverless Lambdas where possible and Fargate when necessary.
  • While the company are fans of Svelte web development, they welcome all skills that you may bring to the table, but most importantly, your passion for observability, ensuring that issues are addressed before they reach their customers. Your work will be critical in ensuring their platform is reliable, scalable, and user-friendly.
  • Your skills and expertise will make a real impact as they develop a service that will revolutionise financial management for yacht owners.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Enhancing platform observability using AWS X-ray
  • Building and maintaining TypeScript APIs
  • Creating infrastructure using Terraform
  • Automating tests with frameworks such as Vitest
  • Ensuring a security-first approach to all aspects of the platform
  • Participating in an on-call rota to support system performance


To Be Successful:


  • Your background doesn’t matter – you can be self-taught or classically trained. However, you will need to be super passionate about tech and engineering as they’re looking for heart, hustle, and a hunger to see the platform succeed!
  • You will need to have at least 5 years of experience with AWS, Terraform, and TypeScript
  • Some experience with test automation frameworks like Jest or Vitest would be preferable
  • You should have a strong commitment to platform observability and security
  • You’ll need be a self-starter, competent in working in an autonomous environment, as well as be able to work effectively in a distributed team environment
  • A background in the financial services industry would be advantageous.


Location: Fully remote from anywhere in the UK.


Working Hours: The company operates a fully flexible working approach, however you will need to show commitment to the role and be able to dedicate time outside of the normal 9-5 hours, particularly during the early phase of development prior to launch.
