I am a very energetic boy who likes to do what I want. I do enjoy playing all sorts of things but I do get very easily distracted. I am diagnosed with autism and ADHD and have sensory difficulties, especially with certain sounds. I can communicate verbally but my speech is limited and I normally use non-verbal forms of communication. I can generally only keep my focus for very short periods of time and like to be in control of what I am doing. PURPOSE OF THE JOB I am looking for a PA to ensure my safety, monitor me and to keep me occupied in the house to allow my father to have some respite. In time we could build up to going out into the community to do social activities. HOURS OF WORK I have 3 hours per week available during term time and 6 hours per week during school holidays. The hours would be worked on weekends during term time. I would need a PA to be available during school holidays and these hours will have more flexibility. RATES OF PAY £13.50 per hour plus 40p per mile where applicable. TASKS CAN INCLUDE Keeping me occupied in the home to allow my father some respite. Monitoring me in the house to ensure I am safe at all times. Letting me do what I want to do and not forcing me to do things I do not want to do. Repeating instructions to me to stop me from doing unsafe things in the house. Holding my hand if we go out and ensuring my safety in the community. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED A patient and understanding person. Someone quite active and “on the ball” to keep me occupied and safe. A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home. A reliable and punctual person. ABOUT THE JOB This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer. Apply now
