Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 12 year old boy living with my family in the area of Glyncoch. I am non-verbal, I have Autism and Pica, which is an eating disorder in which a person eats things not usually considered food. I love going to school and really enjoy it; however, getting out in the community for social activities is the hardest. Sometimes when I don’t get what I want, I can self-harm by hitting myself on the chest, screaming, and hitting myself on the head. My behaviour through the night can be difficult for my mother and my siblings. Some nights I keep them awake when I become upset. PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide me with the opportunity to access activities and develop my life skills. I would like to go out and have fun. PLACE OF WORK

In and around the local area of Pontypridd. HOURS OF WORK

4 hours a week 2:1 support (2 hours for each PA). RATE OF PAY

£13.00 with mileage paid at 0.40p. TASKS INVOLVED

Encouraging me to throw an item away instead of eating it. Keeping a lookout for potentially dangerous pica items. Taking me to places I enjoy away from my home. Ensuring I am safe at all times. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

At least one of the PAs to drive with business class insurance. Someone who can work well within a team. Someone who respects the importance of privacy and confidentiality. Someone who is kind and empathetic. Preferably, you will have experience working with children with additional needs. Someone who can include me in the planning of activities. ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check, which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK. Thank you
