This team has a central role in shaping and implementing schemes which enable low-carbon investment at least cost to the consumer. Role Summary: The Policy & Commercial Development Manager - Clean Power 2030 will be expected to work closely with both Business Development and the wider Strategy team on joint work streams. This high-profile position will lead on the Clean Power 2030 work stream for the organisation; encompassing keeping abreast of industry-wide evolutions, considering potential improvements to existing schemes and feeding into the creation of future scheme designs. The role will likely have a direct report. The Policy and Commercial Development Manager will: Lead on Clean Power 2030 for the business: The role will be the single point of contact on all aspects of Clean Power 2030 that interact with LCCC and ESC schemes, and regularly update the senior leadership team on progress towards Clean Power 2030 outcomes for renewable and low carbon technologies and how this fits with other GB market developments. Support the development of future market arrangements: The Review of Electricity Market Arrangements (REMA) including CfD evolution, wholesale market arrangements and changes to related policy areas, for example, strategic network and planning issues, Mission Control and GB Energy. Manage the development of our Policy: Identify and produce analysis and insights that will help deliver the company's strategy to be an independent Centre of Expertise and Trusted Advisor on Scheme Delivery, and inform company positions on future policy design and development. Thought leadership: Whole Energy Systems thinking to track cross vector market interactions, and to identify opportunities for more coordination across markets. Identify threats and opportunities to LCCC and ESC: Undertake regular policy and regulation analysis, position formation and stakeholder engagement across LCCC, DESNZ, Ofgem, NESO, trade associations and other industry stakeholders as required by LCCC strategic objectives and emerging issues identified via horizon scanning and market intelligence gained directly or via other LCCC teams. Key Responsibilities: Influence - Build and shape external relationships within Government, the energy industry and other sectors looking to decarbonise: Help identify and build external relationships within Government, industry and other influencers in relevant Net Zero sectors; Brief senior leadership and executives ahead of their external engagements; and Influence to support the policy engagement of our current and potential new schemes. Engage with industry and other key stakeholders to develop the commercial side of the schemes: Profile and research the commercial impacts of risks and opportunities to our business in relation to how industry players engage with our schemes; Commission internal and external analysis of policy areas that have the potential to impact the consumer/tax-payer and/or industry; and Develop contractual changes which will evolve the schemes to match industry innovation. Track, understand and communicate key market and policy developments: Draft clear and evidenced briefings, position papers and insights pieces for the purpose of internal communications; Distil and simply communicate complex information to the business; and Identify and produce analysis and insights that will help deliver the company's strategy to accelerate the delivery of Clean Power 2030. Skills Knowledge and Expertise Essential Experience: At least three years of work experience in these three areas:

Working in a policy, regulatory or commercial role; Direct experience from within the energy industry; and Ability to influence and build positive internal and external working relationships across different teams/organisations.

Desirable skills and experience: Renewable and storage technologies; Managing projects with appropriate controls and governance; Understanding of UK's energy sector and evolution of policy landscape; Effective communication skills (verbal and written), able to communicate complex ideas effectively at all levels to both internal and external audiences; Active listener that looks to understand others concerns and incorporate their viewpoints; Able to produce detailed reports and presentations to clearly present findings; Client facing or consultancy; Well-developed qualitative and quantitative research skills with the ability to extract and analyse relevant data to make sound judgements; and Experience in developing and deploying cost benefit analysis / impact assessments.
