Overview

The Front Office Investments Technology Group is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to design and oversee the development of our Portfolio Management capabilities.

These capabilities include (but will not be limited to) portfolio and benchmark analysis, portfolio construction, modelling and optimization, performance and risk analysis, order entry and consumption of internal and external research.

This role will work closely with senior leaders in TRP business and business facing technology groups to understand current and future service needs, develop and manage detailed plans in conjunction with Product Management, coordinate and drive the roadmap from strategy to execution using an agile, test-learn-optimize approach that generates real impact. The role will own the architecture and set the technical strategy of PM technology, with influence and authority: the incumbent will directly manage a mixture of asset-aligned and cross-asset software engineering teams with a mature subordinate leadership team.

The successful candidate will have recent (ideally current) experience working in the front office and delivering world class Portfolio Management and/or Investment Research solutions, a lean-in mindset, confident facing off to non-technical (business) as well as technology audiences, and leading, communicating and championing at senior levels.

Strong influencing skills are key, as the successful applicant will liaise with both Technology and Investments leadership and stakeholders. Incumbents help define business requirements, refine the product strategy, create the roadmap with Product, create application and process specifications, manage dependencies, and ensure that work is prioritized by business value and in alignment with the overarching business and technical strategies. The role is ultimately accountable for the delivery of all Portfolio Management technology solutions to our Investments business.

Responsible for the buildout of a cloud-hosted, internally built Portfolio Management Platform, and the consolidation of multiple legacy disparate capabilities in Portfolio Management and Investment Research areas. Regarded as the go-to Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Portfolio Management. Solves unique problems that have a broad impact on the business or organization function. Contributes to the development of disciplinary strategy; source of authoritative advice on best courses of action in area of expertise. Role Summary And Job Responsibilities Own the entire product lifecycle: develop, communicate and execute the vision, strategy and product roadmap for Portfolio Management capabilities. Prioritize features and/or initiatives by aligning to business and technology strategy. Understand Investments product strategy and ensure alignment across design, data and engineering. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to think boldly and creatively to create concrete product ideas and business cases for new capabilities. Establish KPIs to measure the user experience and development process. Collaborate with strategic data providers to coordinate the use of data. Drive application development and implementation, using business and technical knowledge to resolve blockers, championing innovative and practical solutions. Act as a Business Change / Transformation Lead for a lean-agile mindset adoption, ensuring organizational agility. Build and grow the engineering teams supporting Portfolio Management capabilities globally. Requirements Deep knowledge of buy-side Portfolio Management and Investment Research. 10 years’ current experience working within Front Office for Tier 1 Asset/Investment Management firm/s, including at least one successful build/implementation of a Portfolio or Order Management Platform (either in-house or vendor e.g. Aladdin, CRD, Simcorp or Bloomberg AIM).
