Main duties of the job You will be required to work across two Trusts (DCHS & DHcFT) delivering a variety of training sessions as well as working in clinical practice.

As part of the Positive and Safe Team, you will support the delivery of organisational objectives for all Positive and Safe Training including theory and practical training across the Trusts, representing the Trusts in promoting training and support strategies in the reduction of restrictive practices, internally as well as externally.

The post will encompass training and education, providing knowledge and expertise in clinical practice when supporting staff teams who provide care to people exhibiting acutely behavioural disturbance and/or psychological distress.

The post will ensure compliance with National Guidelines and recommendations, Trust Policy and procedure and work within the RRN Accreditation Scheme.

Person Specification Education, Qualifications and Training

Degree or equivalent clinical experience

To have completed, or be willing to complete the Train the Trainers programme (2 weeks residential) via WLMHT to RRN standards

Hold a Teaching qualification, relevant teaching/training/clinical experience or willing to undertake

Experience and Knowledge Required

Relevant experience of working in a Health Care setting

Knowledge of national and governmental initiatives relating to reducing restrictive practices

Significant knowledge and experience of directing the use of initiatives to reduce restrictive practice i.e. de-escalation skills/ person centred care/positive behavioural support/sensory integration.

Skills and Attributes

Able to work constructively as a member of a team to meet objectives.

Ability to work independently and to prioritise effectively

Able to build constructive relationships with warmth and empathy, using good communication skills

IT literate: competent using Microsoft office and able to understand training planning data

Ability to provide support to clinical staff and patients

Aptitude and Personal Qualities

Committed to multidisciplinary team work

Committed to expert by experience involvement

Ability to treat staff and service users with respect and dignity at all times, adopting a culturally sensitive approach, which considers the needs of the whole person
