The Post 16 Teacher Job:
Are you a compassionate and dedicated Post 16 Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of young adults and students? We are seeking a Special Educational Needs, Secondary Teacher for a vibrant school with students aged 4-19 in Lambeth, specialising in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). You will specifically be working with students of a secondary or young adult age, using a specialised curriculum to enhance the students' engagement in life skills. In this rewarding role, you will be responsible for creating individualised learning plans that focus on developing the students' independence and understanding of accessing the local community and life skills.
The School:
The successful applicant would be joining an outstanding SEN school in Lambeth for children with severe learning difficulties. This SEN school offers provision for pupils from 4-19 years, who have a diagnosis of ASD and an EHCP. The school provides a range of unique enabling environments, both indoor and outdoor, which are used to maximise learning opportunities and meet pupils' specific needs. The curriculum allows the students to gain independence and life skills and is tailored for preparing for adulthood through education and employment, healthy lifestyles, friendships, and independent living.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement personalised lesson plans for students in these classes
Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere
Monitor and assess student progress, adapting approaches as necessary
Engage with parents and caregivers to support student development at home and in school
Work with and lead a support team within the classroom
Collaborate with local organisations to integrate students into the local community
Qualifications:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Strong knowledge of ASD and SLD students
Experience working in a special needs education setting is preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
