About us
St George's Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK, closely integrated to the St George's Hospital Medical School, part of the University of London. We are a joint cancer centre with the Royal Marsden and one of the key providers of secondary and tertiary services in SW London. We are one of the few Trusts in England to provide both acute neurosciences and cardiothoracic services on one site.
In January 2004 elective hip and knee surgery transferred to the newly opened South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre. This has allowed for the development of tertiary and trauma services at St George's Hospital. Routine elective spine, foot & ankle and shoulder surgery has also been relocated to the Elective Orthopaedic Centre. The trust is a major tertiary referral centre for pelvic and acetabular surgery, hip and knee reconstruction, paediatric surgery, spinal surgery and complex trauma.
