The School of Economics is growing and is seeking to appoint a Post-Doctoral Researcher. The research focus of this post is on sorting in the labour market, funded by the UKRI Horizon Europe Guarantee Grant “Multidimensional Sorting with Imperfectly Transferable Utility”. The successful candidate is expected to support the Principal Investigator (Dr Paweł Gola) in achieving the goals of the project; there are no teaching obligations connected to this post.
Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to producing internationally excellent research. An ideal candidate would have demonstrated proficiency with structural modelling of the labour market, but candidates with demonstrable familiarity with sorting/matching models will be considered even without experience with data analysis. Applicants should have, or be close to completing, a PhD in economics or a related field, and have demonstrable potential to publish their research in leading refereed journals. Your skills and attributes for success: Have a PhD in Economics or be within 3 months of completion of a PhD at the start of the post in August 2025. Must be able to demonstrate an existing or developing record of research with potential for publication in leading peer-reviewed journals in economics. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to make an outstanding contribution to the research activities and intellectual life of the School of Economics. Have experience with sorting/matching models and/or structural modelling of labour markets. Have excellent oral and written communication skills. Please note that the University of Edinburgh defines completion of a PhD as the submission of the corrected thesis following the candidate’s viva examination, or when the candidate receives confirmation that there are no corrections to address. Interviews will be online and take place in February. How to apply: To apply, all candidates must complete the following two steps of application (in any order) by 09th December 2024 (23:59 UK time), otherwise applications will not be considered.
