Postdoctoral Research Scientist -mRNA-translation, CRUK Scotland Institute, Glasgow, Scotland Postdoctoral Research Scientist -mRNA:

Join a world-leading cancer research institute in Glasgow, Scotland, and be part of a cutting-edge project investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying hepatocellular carcinoma initiation. This position offers the opportunity to work on a 5-year MRC Programme Grant-funded project, utilizing advanced in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro approaches to elucidate the intricate relationship between mRNA translation regulation, membrane trafficking, and tumour initiation niches in the liver. Job Title:

Postdoctoral Research Scientist – Elucidating the Influence of mRNA-translation and Membrane Trafficking on Tumour Initiation in the Liver Designation:

Postdoctoral Research Scientist Research Area:

Investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms through which mRNA translation rates alter Golgi-transport, endocytosis, and endocytic sorting in hepatocytes, and the regulation of extracellular matrix deposition in the liver. Location:

CRUK Scotland Institute, Glasgow, Scotland Successful (or nearly completed) PhD in a relevant field Experience in

molecular and/or cell biological

approaches Willingness to work with murine models of liver disease and cancer Prior experience with ribosome profiling/footprinting and proteomic approaches (advantageous but not essential) Strong motivation for discovery science and collaborative team work Job Description: The selected candidates will be responsible for conducting research using in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro methodologies to investigate the influence of mRNA translation regulation on membrane trafficking events in hepatocytes, particularly in the context of hepatocellular carcinoma initiation. This will involve utilizing state-of-the-art cryo-EM tomography to visualize molecular details of the interplay between mRNA translation and membrane trafficking machineries. Additionally, the role will encompass working with murine models of liver disease and cancer, as well as employing ribosome profiling/footprinting and sophisticated proteomic approaches.
