The Opportunity Power Plant Manager - Cornwall

A leader in the development of geothermal power, heat, and lithium production, and is pioneering the first geothermal power plant in the UK. With two deep wells drilled and the plant nearing completion, we are seeking a full-time Power Plant Manager to join our innovative and dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking renewable energy project. The successful candidate will receive full training to learn the operation of the UK's first geothermal plant, taking on responsibility for its operations in late 2024 to early 2025. Role & Responsibilities:

Manage all electrical, mechanical, and administrative activities to ensure the efficient and uninterrupted operation of the power plant. Prepare and submit daily and weekly production reports, along with other relevant management information. Troubleshoot and resolve errors and malfunctions detected in the plant's control systems. Develop and implement operational procedures and instructions. Oversee the procurement of consumables and spare parts required for plant maintenance. Ensure regular maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment. Implement and supervise occupational health and safety protocols in accordance with UK legislation. Manage electricity generation, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Work closely with the construction, drilling, and community engagement teams, as well as technology provider Exergy. Lead the operations team, fostering collaboration and efficiency across departments. Required Skills & Qualifications:

Essential:

Degree-level qualification in a technical field. Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and process project drawings. Strong troubleshooting and fault resolution experience. Comprehensive understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Calm under pressure, with strong time management skills. Genuine interest in renewable energy and new technologies. Full UK driving licence. Desirable:

3+ years of experience in electricity generation facilities. Passion for renewable energy and contributing to Cornwall's move towards net zero by 2030. Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new processes in a fast-paced environment. Experience in working to tight deadlines and budgets. Availability for night shift on-call work. Why Join Us?
