ROLE TITLE: POWER SYSTEMS ENGINEER REPORTING LINE: The Power Systems Engineer will report to the Director of Technical Operations for Energy Solutions. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW: Energy Solutions is a sub-systems solutions arm of Artemis Technologies, responsible for the delivery of Marine Lithium-Ion battery and High-Power Charging systems. The group is growing its presence within the business and building on the technology modules developed in our vessel programmes, furthering development for the wider marine market. THE ROLE: The Power Systems Engineer will support the design, development and delivery of Artemis Energy products such as standalone battery packs, High Power Charging systems and other energy products for eFoiler Vessels and the wider marine market. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: Electrical design of Artemis battery pack and charging solutions, delivering circuit diagrams, wiring schematics and internal harness drawings. Undertake functional design and derive functional and non-functional requirements, defining spatial and operational needs whilst considering product safety. Specification and selection of power electronics hardware such as DC/DC, DC/AC, AFEs and transformers. Electrical design of switchgear and switchgear enclosure layouts supporting both battery Power Distribution and charging systems. Hardware selection and specification covering circuit protection devices, isolation management, communication and control. Supporting the development of new battery pack architectures, considering electrical, control and safety architecture. Contributing and leading Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment activities for battery pack solutions in the wide context of possible applications. Supporting the Mechanical design of battery pack solutions, ensuring electrical considerations are managed and by climatic, environmental and insulation requirements/specifications. Managing the electromagnetic immunity of the control and communication systems and specifying the relevant limits, standards and tests. Support the delivery of Design Validation Plans (DVP) for battery testing. Authoring technical documentation. Lead on battery fault finding & diagnosis. Support the boat development programs where required. Ensure that the systems meet all appropriate regulations. Introduce new electronics technology to ATL where appropriate. Attend team and 1-1 meetings and fulfil reporting requirements as required by Artemis Technologies. Ensure compliance with Artemis Technologies Policies and Procedures. Build good working relationships across Artemis Technologies. Contribute to shaping a culture that reflects Artemis Technologies Values and Guiding Principles and enables the company to achieve its goals. PERSON SPECIFICATION Education/Qualifications and Experience: Required: Holder of Bachelor (BSc /BEng) degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering). 3-5+ years in a role with HV/LV Power Systems experience in automotive, marine, aerospace or similar industries. Preferred: Experience in marine power distribution systems is highly desirable. Key Skills Required: Technical/Design skills: Experience working on the design of Hazardous Voltage (>60VDC) Electrical Systems and circuits. Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power distribution systems and associated sub-system/components. Ability to perform analysis using industry recognized analytical tools. Understand & meet customer & regulatory design requirements. Able to investigate and diagnose electrical hardware failures. Practical, hands-on approach to power system integration. Able to liaise with 3rd party contractors & test houses. Communication skills: Good report writing skills clear, concise, and well structured. Excellent interpersonal skills. Organising and Time Management: Ability to coordinate with other departments and flag issues. A focus on delivery to an agreed schedule. Teamworking: Ability to relate well to others, and build co-operative and collaborative working relationships, both internally and externally.
