Senior Power Trader Opportunity with a Leading Commodities Firm
Selby Jennings is currently partnered with a well-established German commodities firm, looking to expand their Power Trading team in London.
The Role
As a Senior Power Trader, you will take a pivotal role in developing and executing trading strategies across power contracts (both physical and financial) to drive growth in the firm's power franchise. This role involves working closely with front-office and support units to maximise trading capabilities, structure and price contracts, manage positions, and generate value through strategic trading while managing risk in a cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities
Engage in flow trading by managing client transactions and optimising risk management.
Drive value extraction through carefully crafted trading strategies without engaging in proprietary trading.
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to enhance and refine trading strategies.
Opportunity to upskill and expand knowledge across other commodities.
Support the development of a physical power business to complement the existing financial power business.
Ideal Candidate Profile
5-15 years of relevant experience in power trading, ideally with a VP or Director title.
Deep knowledge of European power markets and an entrepreneurial approach to growing the business line.
Strong analytic and business skills to support the expansion of a trading franchise.
