Peterborough Responsibilities: Develop and manage powertrain calibrations using client &/or AVL toolsets & processes. Define, generate & manage engine test plans. Planning, execution and analysis of engine & system simulation activities. System performance assessment, including trade-offs and data analysis. Data review and root cause analysis (RCA) to identify powertrain system issues & develop solutions for resolution. System modelling, calibration simulation, using toolsets such as Matlab SIMULINK. Functioning within a professional team, generate & present reports (verbal & written) including recommendations and proposals. Work with other client & AVL teams to deliver project objectives. Promote best practice and robust technical solutions using AVL toolsets as appropriate. Profile: Essential: 2:1 or above Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant topic. Excellent understanding of diesel internal combustion engine operation and performance. Knowledge of ancillary systems (air path, exhaust aftertreatment technologies, control, etc). Understanding of vehicle architecture & control systems. Experience or knowledge of vehicle emissions requirements. Good knowledge of simulation systems, particularly Matlab SIMULINK. Working knowledge of calibration toolsets & engine calibration, including trade-offs for emissions and performance. Excellent analytical skills, able to interpret data and results and present results in a clear & understandable format. Strong team player, with good communication & English language skills. A self-starter, ‘can-do’ approach, able to work with other team members at all levels to reach ‘win-win’ agreements. A strong willingness to learn and develop. Preferable: PhD in relevant subject. Knowledge of the off highway (NRMM) or heavy-duty on-road sector, including emissions legislation (Stage V, Tier 4 final, etc). Experience of using calibration and data analysis tools (e.g., AVL CONCERTO, Vector CANape, AVL CAMEO, DIAdem, etc). An understanding of the techniques, process, toolsets & methodology for Virtual Calibration. Expert NRMM ICE experience (calibration, analysis & simulation). Good knowledge of NRMM machines and associated systems. An interest in non-ICE based power technologies (Fuel Cells, battery systems, etc). Controls & calibration development using SiL & MiL techniques. Familiarisation with 1-D simulation tools (e.g., GT-Power). Salary:
