Engineer - The Role

Reporting to the Lead Design Engineer, you will be the technical expert in designing complex hydraulic systems and components. Your responsibilities include creating designs for optimal performance using data-driven decisions, considering key factors such as mass and parasitic losses. You will create detailed hydraulic schematics, diagnose and resolve system issues, select appropriate materials, and choose hydraulic components such as QDs, solenoids, and servovalves. Additionally, you will develop test procedures and ensure on-time delivery of reliable parts meeting all aerodynamic and mechanical requirements. Collaborating closely with the Aerodynamics, Control Systems, and Simulation groups, you will take full cradle-to-grave ownership of your area of the F1 car, including leading the design of hydraulic tooling and liaising with Production and Quality Groups.

The successful candidate will have a mechanical engineering degree (2:1 grade and up) and a strong understanding of Engineering Fundamentals, particularly in hydraulics. Experience with CAD (such as Catia V5/3DX) is advantageous. They must be self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision to deliver performance solutions on time. We are looking for someone with minimum 5 years post-graduate experience, ideally within F1, the supply chain, or motorsport.

The role requires a hands-on approach, so practical skills in hydraulics will be useful. Great collaborative skills and attention to detail are essential.
