Location: Office based in Banbury, OX16 2EH.

Salary: Basic Salary of £50K with OTB of £60K+

TaxAssist Accountants are the largest network of accountants who focus their accountancy skills specifically on small businesses and taxpayers needing a tax return in the UK. We specialize in providing accountancy services, tax returns, payroll, bookkeeping, tax savings and tax advice to small businesses and individuals.


We are looking for a Practice Accountant to join our expanding accountancy practice. We provide a friendly, flexible and proactive all year-round service to small to medium businesses and individuals in the local area.


Practice Accountant - Responsibilities:


• You will have a couple of years post qualification experience and will be very able to deal with the accounting and taxation needs of sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, and individual taxpayers.

o Preparation and review of Accounts for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies

o Preparation and review of Self-Assessment Tax Returns for Sole Traders, Rental Property Income, Individuals and Partnerships

o Preparation and review of Corporation Tax Computations for Limited Companies

o Preparation, review and submission of VAT Returns

• As well as a high degree of technical competence you will enjoy integrating with local business community and a have a real desire to help local businesses.

• Marketing will be a key driver to success, and you will be open new ideas and initiatives to drive business development.

• Provision of client-focused support including client meetings, dealing with client queries via phone, email and in person

• Communicate and liaise verbally and in writing between clients/visitors/enquirers and staff and interpret and respond clearly and effectively to spoken requests over the phone or in person, and to verbal or written instructions

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public

• Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures

• Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility

• Management and guidance of junior staff Plus, other duties consistent with the grade as directed.


What we need from you:


• ACCA/ICAEW or AAT qualified or equivalent or qualified by experience

• Recent and relevant experience in a practice environment

• Current working knowledge of UK tax laws and accounting standards applicable to small business

• Strong knowledge of computerised accounting systems

• Genuine desire to be a trusted advisor to small business clients

• You must have good people skills, be highly organised and be able to work unsupervised to strict deadlines. You must have a good command of the English language (both spoken and written) as the job involves writing of technical emails to clients

• Conscientious, committed and reliable

• Able to work to tight deadlines without compromising the quality of your work

• Experience of using QuickBooks Online, TaxCalc and Office 365 would be extremely beneficial

• A proven track record of several years' work within one or more businesses


Must have a “can do” attitude and be able to work independently with appropriate support. You should be proactive, motivated and willing to learn, with a problem-solving attitude. You will be confident in engaging with clients to build a rapport and offer solutions and direction.
