The In Care Survivors Alliance, established in 2016, is a partnership of four key organisations: Glasgow Psychological Trauma Service, Health in Mind, Penumbra Mental Health, and the Scottish Government. Funded by the Scottish Government, the alliance provides support to survivors of in-care abuse in Scotland through a range of services including psychological trauma care, mental health resources, and tailored support to help survivors rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. The Alliance is dedicated to fostering resilience and well-being through collaborative expertise.

The In Care Survivors Alliance offers two key services to support survivors of in-care abuse and neglect in the Scottish care system: Future Pathways and The Redress Support Service. Future Pathways helps people achieve personal goals with tailored mental health support, access to services, and training opportunities. The Redress Support Service provides personalised, trauma-informed assistance to those applying to Scotland's Redress Scheme, including emotional support through a helpline.

The Role

The In Care Survivors Alliance is seeking a Practice Learning Manager to lead one of six Support Coordination Teams within Future Pathways. Based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, this role involves guiding and supporting a team dedicated to delivering trauma-informed, personalised assistance to individuals who experienced abuse or neglect in the Scottish care system. This values-driven leader will foster a compassionate and empowering environment for both their team and the survivors they support. They will play a key role in promoting hope, resilience, and trust, building strong connections within a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach.

The Person

The ideal candidate will hold a recognized professional qualification in a relevant field, such as Health and Social Care, Social Work, or Psychology, equivalent to SVQ Level 4 and ideally to degree level. This position requires substantial experience in leading teams, particularly those responsible for managing their own caseloads, combined with demonstrated strengths in effective negotiation, influence, and risk management.

The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in trauma-informed service delivery, demonstrating resilience, empathy, and a strong capacity to empower both team members and the survivors they support. Formal training in reflective practice, coaching, facilitation, management and suicide prevention (e.g., ASIST) is highly desirable. Experience in multi-agency collaboration and adept problem-solving within complex, cross-functional environments is also advantageous.

You can also contact Lauryn Pringle or Debbie Shields at Aspen People for a confidential discussion.
