All our surgeries in Huddersfield are undergoing a period of transition and we are currently developing smarter ways of working which includes reorganising teams to embrace and encourage talent. If you are enthusiastic about change, then we want you to join our team. We are looking for a friendly and vibrant General Practice Nurse to join our well-established nursing team. You will be NMC registered and will share in the usual distribution of work across our nurse team. Main duties of the job

Chronic Disease Management/Long Term Conditions within the clinic setting Health Promotion Collaborate with and enable clients and other members of the primary health care Cervical cytology & teaching breast awareness Treatment of minor injuries LES/DES/QOF related clinical and administrative work Routine immunisations / Childhood immunisations Travel health advice and vaccinations Menopause and HRT consultations Flu, Pneumococcal, Shingles and Pertussis in Pregnancy vaccinations Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post About us

Job responsibilities

Cervical cytology & teaching breast awareness Wound care / ulcer care Treatment of minor injuries Removal of Sutures ECGs COPD / Asthma / Peak Flow Readings / Spirometry LES/DES/QOF related clinical and administrative work Routine immunisations / Childhood immunisations Travel health advice and vaccinations Menopause and HRT consultations Flu, Pneumococcal, Shingles and Pertussis in Pregnancy vaccinations Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs Experience in Diabetes / Coronary Heart Disease Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate Ordering of vaccinations and equipment to maintain stock levels Participation in administrative systems in the Practice Maintain accurate records Advise colleagues of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post Person Specification

Qualifications

Registered General Nurse (diploma or degree level) Qualifications and Experience in: Cervical Screening, Childhood Immunisations, Asthma, Diabetes, Health Promotion, Heart Disease and Travel Advice Experience

Car driver with clean licence. Able to work at the desired times. Flexible and able to cover for colleague absence through sickness, annual leave or study leave. Experience of primary care. Experience and competence in General Treatment Room Duties. Experience of working in accordance with the NMC Code of Practice. Experience of dealing with the public/patients. Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities. Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team. Able to work under pressure. Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense. Willingness and enthusiasm to develop nursing skills. Able to work in a changing environment. Practice Nurse Qualification/Experience. Experience in Chronic Disease Management (Diabetes, COPD, Asthma, CKD, Stroke, Hypertension). Current (within the last 12 months) emergency resuscitation training certificate. Experience of Systemone Clinical System. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
