To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced RGN and in addition any roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate. About us

We are a large, training practice working across two sites with a diverse patient population of 27,000 patients across east Bournemouth. Job Responsibilities

Job Summary: To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced RGN and in addition any roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current and ongoing training needs. Offer a holistic approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice to patients prior to travel including vaccinations and medicines, food hygiene, sun protection. Offer advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered under patient group directions. Running well person clinics and health promotion programmes by providing a holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise. Assessing problems presented opportunistically by patients, dealing with minor illness. Document consultations according to NMC guidelines. Ensure awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral. Perform holistic assessments of patients attending for ear irrigation and cervical cytology smear tests. Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines. Provide a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line with current evidence-based guidelines. Suture removal and taking ECGs. Able to recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines. Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines. Assist in the provision of minor surgery. Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained. Monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment including refrigeration, sterilizer and emergency equipment. Person Specification

Qualifications

Registered Nurse Evidence of appropriate knowledge base. Broad knowledge of clinical governance. Knowledge of Infection Prevention Control including Public Health issues in the local area. Ability to record accurate clinical notes. Experience of working in a primary care environment. Ability to listen, empathise with people and provide person-centred support in a non-judgmental way. Commitment to reducing health inequalities and proactively working to reach people in all communities. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with people, their families, carers, community groups, partner agencies and stakeholders. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
