Lowfield Medical Centre is a small, friendly, and innovative practice situated at the heart of Dartford with a current list of over 7200 patients. With the new development in the area, we are looking for a Practice Nurse to join us and provide care to the local population. Lowfield Medical Centre is a training practice and encourages staff development among its multi-disciplinary team. The focus of this role is the delivery of general practice nursing for patients with long-term conditions and implementation of health prevention programmes. The nurse will work with the team in a supportive environment. Main duties of the job

To provide basic and higher levels of nursing care as needed for patients including running specific clinics such as respiratory, diabetes, family planning, child immunisations, and travel clinics. To provide care for wounds, ear irrigation, venepuncture, ECGs, and 24-hour ECG/BP equipment. Dealing with patients as they present routinely or as emergencies, assessing patients' individual needs and treatment or referring as appropriate. Immunisations and vaccinations. Accurately recording all results on the computer and ensuring familiarity and understanding of the requirements of the GMS contract. Assisting with meeting QOF targets. Being familiar with emergency equipment and procedures, maintaining a high standard of safety at all times with regard to checking equipment and drugs and restocking and servicing as necessary. Being familiar with local infection control procedures. Being aware of Treatment Room protocols and taking part in their regular updating. Ensuring that patients are treated with due regard to privacy and confidentiality. Liaising with nurse colleagues and doctors where necessary. About us

We are a busy NHS Training Practice in the centre of Dartford with just over 7200 patients. We have 4 General Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 HCAs, 1 GP Assistant, and 10 members of staff within the Management, Secretarial, Reception, and Administrative Teams. The practice has many AARS staff that are employed via the PCN. Job responsibilities

Experience and Knowledge Competency in basic nursing duties required for the role. Experience of INR, family planning, cervical cytology, immunisation, travel clinic, and chronic disease management. Specific nursing skills/qualifications relevant to the post including respiratory, spirometry, INR, family planning, cervical cytology, wound care, immunisations, travel clinic, and chronic disease management. Knowledge of EMIS Web preferable. Skills and Abilities Excellent assessment skills. Understanding of chronic disease presentations. Good decision-making, communication, and organisation skills. Understanding of vaccinations and immunisations for children and adults. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels. Good IT skills to enable accurate recording of consultations. Committed to ongoing development. Adaptable and flexible to work additional hours if required. Ability to work under pressure. A team player. Enthusiasm and energy. Person Specification

Qualifications

Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
