Job Title: Practice Nurse with a specialist interest in COPD & Asthma Reports to: Practice Management Team Job Purpose: To provide a high quality care service based on the needs of the Practice population which includes treatment, screening, preventative care, and patient education. Duties and Responsibilities Clinical To manage patients with COPD & asthma, running specific clinic sessions, interpreting spirometry where appropriate (currently not carrying this out at the Practice), and supporting robust recall systems. Act as chaperone when required. Undertake health promotion to help educate patients. Administration To maintain accurate patient records and enter onto the computer using agreed Read Codes. Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care. To contribute to the preparation of any Practice development plans. General To maintain own annual registration with the NMC and adhere to Code of Professional Conduct. To maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all staff, patients, carers, and co-workers from other agencies. Ensure all statutory regulations (e.g. Health & Safety, COSHH, etc.) are implemented and adhered to. To promote a professional approach at all times by attire and attitude to patients and staff both in and out of the Practice. To maintain own continuous professional development and ensure PDP kept up-to-date in line with the requirements of the Practice. Attend and participate in staff and Practice meetings and in-house clinical training sessions. Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time-to-time. We currently have a temporary position available up to 2 days per week for a Practice Nurse with a special interest in COPD & Asthma. George Clare Surgery is a SystmOne practice with 12,000 patients, 3 partners, 7 salaried GPs, and 3 nurse practitioners. The ideal candidate needs to be able to interpret spirometry and carry out annual COPD & Asthma reviews. This position is a temporary position with a view to permanent.
