Practice Nurse/ Triage Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an autonomous, experienced nurse to join our practice nursing team. Thurso & Halkirk Medical Practice is a dynamic, forward-thinking training practice that strives to provide high-quality patient care over our two sites. The successful candidate will be based at our Thurso site but may be required to cover our Halkirk site on occasion.
This is a varied role encompassing all aspects of practice nursing alongside nursing triage. The practice operates a telephone triage system run successfully by our practice nursing team. Our experienced practice nurses share their time between nursing duties and triage duties. A detailed job description is available alongside this advert.
The successful candidate must be registered with the NMC. They must be comfortable and confident working autonomously and making clinical decisions based on their own comprehensive assessments. A team player who is able to work well under the pressures of general practice is essential.
Practice nursing experience is preferable, but further training would be provided for the right candidate if they can demonstrate relevant experience and an excellent level of autonomous clinical decision-making. Non-medical prescribing and/or advanced examination qualifications would be helpful but not essential in this role.
Working days and hours are negotiable, but the successful candidate will be required to work a minimum of 2 days a week. Salary is dependent on experience and considers the advanced aspects of this practice nursing post alongside any additional qualifications the candidate may hold (such as non-medical prescribing). The position offers excellent terms and conditions, including generous holiday entitlement and pension.
