The Opportunity - Preconstruction Manager : Join our client s Infrastructure business unit, where your skills will be essential in shaping the future of water projects. As a Preconstruction Manager, you will report to the Pre-construction Director and work closely with pre-construction leads on various water frameworks. This role allows you to utilise your technical knowledge and strategic insight to drive successful bids and tendering activities. You will oversee the bidding and design development process during the pre-construction phase, ensuring all projects meet the company s standards and objectives.

Key Accountabilities - Preconstruction Manager : Lead design assurance efforts, collaborating with pre-construction leads and design managers to ensure compliance with processes. Review tender stage designs from clients, identifying risks and proposing effective solutions. Support pre-construction leads in design development during the tender period, contributing to programme inputs as needed. Coordinate with external design resources and framework leads to enhance project execution. Participate in design team meetings, ensuring timely follow-up on actions. Review relevant sections of contract documents and assist in developing subcontract strategies. Benchmark design programmes across water frameworks to promote best practices. Drive value engineering initiatives throughout the design phase of projects. Present and deliver tenders during settlement meetings, ensuring a smooth transition to the operational team. Collaborate with the Managing Estimator to meet deadlines for technical and commercial bid elements. Lead client interactions during the bidding process, establishing win strategies and understanding client priorities. Manage tender bid settlements, working with senior directors for final approvals. Competency Requirements - Preconstruction Manager : Strong background in Engineering or Construction Management, ideally chartered, with at least 10 years experience in the water industry. Proven technical expertise from design management, commercial, or operational roles. Professional accreditation and thorough knowledge of various contract forms, including NEC and IChemE. Excellent commercial acumen to support effective work-winning strategies. Strong planning skills, with the ability to collaborate with planning teams to produce high-quality tender and construction programmes. Creative problem-solving skills, with strong bid writing and submission abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, and Teams. Well-developed analytical, oral, presentation, and communication skills. Experience in team management, demonstrating clear leadership and a commitment to team development. Attention to detail and the ability to work well under tight deadlines. Safety training (SMSTS) and a CSCS card are desirable.
