An exciting opportunity has arisen in our friendly Pharmacy team - a 27 month fixed term rotational training post. After completing the apprenticeship, you will be able to register as a pharmacy technician with the GPhC. While training, you will perform general pharmaceutical duties under the control and supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician and undertake to complete virtual guided learning provided by the training provider as well as workplace training. You will train and develop the skills to become an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) and demonstrate commitment to undertake L3 apprenticeship within an agreed timetable. Rest assured, a pre-registration pharmacy technician works at all times under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist. Travel will be expected between sites, as a rotational scheme is in operation covering the main dispensary, clozapine dispensary, distribution, clinical trials and medicines management both on site and at other Trust locations. Accurately dispense and produce labels for prescriptions and controlled drugs for both in and outpatients. Complete the relevant dispensed item checking competencies, including final accuracy checking of prescriptions. Tailor individual supplies for patients to assist concordance and increase patient safety. Check in and store medicinal items. Supply stock items to wards, departments and community clinics. Obtain and record information for medicines reconciliation, liaise with other professionals, take responsibility for an allocated ward. Assist in providing a clinical trial service. Take corrective action in the event of a near miss or deviation within the limits of responsibility. Understand how to report adverse clinical incidents through the Trust risk management system. Participate in section meetings and feedback information or suggestions for improvement in line with local policies. Assist the EPMA Pharmacy team dealing with queries from healthcare professionals for electronic prescribing. Counsel outpatients about how to use their medicines and give general information and advice about medicines. Train in the monitoring requirements and supply of clozapine. 5 GCSEs grade C or above (4-9) or equivalent including English, Maths and Science Able to commit to a two year apprenticeship programme and completion of End Point Assessments Level 2 NVQ certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills or other GPhC qualification Should qualify as Level 3 Pharmacy Technician at the end of the apprenticeship A levels or further education Experience

IT qualification or experience in the workplace Experience of stock management Evidence of Team working Evidence of recent study and self-development Additional Criteria

Ability to demonstrate accurate numeracy skills Able to communicate effectively in excellent English, verbally and in writing, face to face and on the telephone to ensure a seamless medicines management process.
