Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician
to join our Pharmacy Team. This post is a 27 months FTC. We are offering a competitive salary; year 1 £28,500 rising to £29,231 in year 2. The post holder will carry out a range of duties covering areas of the pharmacy department including dispensary, distribution, ward pharmacy, and procurement to provide an efficient and comprehensive pharmacy service. The London Clinic’s Pharmacy Department is a close-knit team with around 45 staff members. The Pharmacy department comprises 9 core services:
On Call, Dispensary Services, Distribution and Top Up Service, Procurement, Clinical Ward Pharmacy Services, Provision of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), Aseptic/Technical Services, Clinical Governance, and Education and Training. Job Description The pre-registration pharmacy technician role is a two-year full-time apprenticeship which enables the learner to apply for registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). The training equips the learner with the clinical knowledge, confidence, practical and professional skills to practice as a pharmacy technician. It will enable the post holder to complete the necessary qualifications and learn the knowledge, skills, and behaviors required to gain relevant work experience. Upon successful completion of the training programme, the learner will receive an overall Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Apprenticeship certificate issued by the government. A training certificate will also be issued by the training provider, which meets the requirements of the Initial Education and Training Standards for Pharmacy Technicians and has been accredited by the GPhC. Duties & Responsibilities Participate in the provision of a safe, efficient, and accurate dispensing service to all pharmacy users. Carry out reception duties including taking in prescriptions and entering details onto the computer system (tracker system). Provide concise drug information to patients and staff and refer enquiries appropriately. Counsel patients regarding their medications following competency training. Ensure all relevant documentation is completed and filed according to procedures including unlicensed medicine dispensing records, prescriptions (outpatients and TTAs), and ward requests. Contribute to the management of emergency drugs supply processes. Participate in regular expiry date checks of dispensary and ensure all expired stock is removed according to procedures.
