About the role

Leicester Medical School is seeking an experienced and motivated clinician to take on the role of Preparation for Clinical Practice Assessment Lead, with specific responsibility for the Finals (Year 5) OSCE. This position is central to maintaining our reputation for excellence in medical education and ensuring that our graduates meet the highest standards of clinical competence. As the lead for the Finals OSCE, you will oversee the development, delivery, and quality assurance of this critical examination, ensuring compliance with the General Medical Council’s Medical Licensing Assessment (MLA) requirements. You will work closely with a team of assessment professionals and clinical educators to create authentic and effective assessments. Your responsibilities will include examiner and simulated patient recruitment and training, harmonising assessment processes across the whole programme, and contributing to the development of written assessments. Additionally, you will play an active role in preparing students for the Finals OSCE, providing tailored feedback, and supporting them through resit processes where necessary. About you

To succeed in this role, you will be a medically qualified professional with full GMC registration and substantial experience in medical education. You will hold a consultant post within one of our partner NHS Trusts or be employed by a GP practice that teaches Leicester medical students. Experience with clinical assessments, particularly OSCEs, is essential, alongside a demonstrated commitment to teaching and quality in medical education. You will have strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage complex assessment processes and motivate a multidisciplinary team. A proven ability to align clinical assessments with curricular content and external regulatory standards would be desirable. Other desirable attributes include a recognised qualification in medical education, such as Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or Academy of Medical Educators, and experience in written assessment design. Vacancy terms

Part-time (3-4PA, 12-16 hours per week), fixed term contract for 3 years (subject to satisfactory educational appraisal) with potential to renew for a further agreed period.
