About the role: We are currently looking for a Press Brake Operative who is responsible for the daily setup and operation of computer-controlled press brakes to perform one or more machine functions on steel products, having the ability to: Produce components requiring interpretation of engineering drawings, aided by jigs and templates. Programme a component accurately to any engineering drawing. Operate to a high standard and fully understand comprehensive bend symbols and technical data on engineering drawings. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Capable of problem solving and mentoring press labourer/operator where required. Produce parts without the need for supervision and dimensionally check to drawing and make adjustments to programmes. Understand more advanced drawing symbols. Work to drawing tolerances and maintain them to an acceptable standard. Produce components and dimensionally check and verify to drawing. Work from flat profile drawings and understand development lengths. Proficient in all the onsite press brake machinery. Work to deadlines and see tasks through to completion in a timely manner. Understand safe working practices, material, and tooling limits. Keep the department clean and tidy. Follow company procedures as laid down in the staff handbook. Work to the company 6s system. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Apprentice trained or time served experience in the press brake industry. Safety, Quality, Accuracy, Timeliness, Reliability, and Thoroughness of work performed. Understand health and safety on the shop floor. Develop good working relationships with the Team Leader, Supervisor, co-workers, and other employees. Ability to operate precision measuring devices such as callipers, square, micrometres, protractors, and tape measures.
