Primary Care Nurse

role at

Gatwick IRC

to join our team. The detention centre is run for the Home Office by Care and Custody, a division of Serco, with Practice Plus Group providing healthcare services to all residents.

Gatwick IRC provides a 24/7 health care service and the shift hours are:

Days:

7:00 - 19:30

Nights:

19:00 - 7:30

You will be expected to work 3 night shifts in 1 week out of 4. This position is full-time, 37.5 hours a week, and you will receive an annual salary of up to £43,534 per annum, depending on experience.

Golden Hello:

£3,000 (£1,000 in 6 months of service, £1,000 after 12 months, and £1,000 after 24 months of service - conditions apply).

Please note:

In order to apply for a position at Gatwick IRC, all applicants need to have been living in the United Kingdom (with residency in the UK, such as UK/Irish/EU Passport, or an Indefinite Leave to Remain Visa) for the last 3 years with no more than a 28-day break being outside of the UK and no gaps in employment during this time.

Main duties of the job As a Registered Nurse (Adult), you will be an integral part of the healthcare team at Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre by bringing your clinical skills and passion for care. You could be involved in anything from developing and leading clinics, undertaking examinations and tests, as well as answering emergency bells and potentially being the first person to attend an emergency. Knowledge in therapeutic interventions such as CBT or Steps to Wellbeing is desirable, but transferable clinical skills will be considered with appropriate training provided.

You will have a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever-changing. You should possess a good working knowledge of conducting risk assessments and care planning, as well as being creative and forward-thinking to work through the issues that may arise in this challenging but exciting environment.

Job responsibilities As a Primary Care Nurse, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions. You will undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening. You will use your skills and knowledge to deliver nurse-led clinics to your patient group while being supported by a multi-disciplinary team.

Person Specification You will be a Registered Nurse (Adult), NMC qualified, and will have evidence of continued professional development throughout your clinical career thus far. Having an understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working, coupled with a non-judgmental and compassionate approach will enable you to succeed in this role, as well as a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
