An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Primary Care Nurse to join the Offender Health Care Group working at HMP Fosse Way. HMP Fosse Way is a Category C Resettlement Prison. HMP Fosse Way houses 1,715 prisoners and focuses on the rehabilitation of offenders and their reintegration back into society. It consists of 7 House blocks across 4 floors. There is a dedicated healthcare suite located in the main building with additional multi-use rooms across the establishment including rooms for groups or 1-2-1's. This role requires a Primary Care Nurse to work as part of a team delivering care to patients both within the Healthcare Centre's and on the Wings within the prison environment. Main duties of the job

To provide high quality nursing care to patients with physical healthcare needs in a prison setting. Accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patients care. To provide basic leadership to junior staff by maintaining professional standards ensuring adherence to all relevant policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality care. Qualifications

Essential

First level registered nurse / RN Desirable

Significant /Demonstrable experience within the substance misuse field with evidence of appropriate continued learning. Certificate/Diploma in Counselling Experience

Essential

Experience of assessing patient conditions, triaging services, and providing appropriate clinical interventions. Experience of working effectively within a MDT. Desirable

Experience of working in a criminal justice setting. Experience of close working relationships with a variety of statutory agencies and other external organisations. Experience of supervising and mentoring junior staff. Knowledge

Essential

Awareness of other issues relevant to healthcare Application within criminal justice, e.g. substance misuse. Local and National Offender Health Strategy. Assessment and triage skills. Equal opportunities. Skills
