We are seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the SEN department of a welcoming mainstream primary school in the Chesterfield area. This full-time position, running Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, offers a competitive daily pay rate of GBP87.75 - GBP90. The role spans Nursery through Year 6, supporting children with a variety of behavioural and SEN needs.

Responsibilities:

Provide personalised 1:1 and group support to SEN pupils, ensuring their academic and emotional needs are met. Support pupils with a range of behavioural needs, helping them manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies. Collaborate with teachers and SEN coordinators to implement and adapt individual education plans (IEPs). Foster a nurturing and structured environment to enhance pupils' learning and social development. Assist in managing classroom behaviour, promoting a calm and positive atmosphere conducive to learning. Prepare and deliver engaging activities designed to build confidence and independence in pupils. Act as a trusted mentor, encouraging pupils to achieve personal and academic milestones.

Requirements: Proven experience working with children with SEN or behavioural challenges in a primary school setting. A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is highly desirable. A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies, including de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement. Knowledge of child development and the ability to tailor support to different age groups and individual needs. Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with pupils, staff, and parents. Resilience, patience, and a genuine passion for working with children facing challenges. Ability to use creative approaches, such as sensory-based activities, to support engagement and learning. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children (Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one).
