Our client is looking to strengthen their Engineering team with a Principal Civil Engineer to support their growing portfolio of water and wastewater schemes, with a programme of work valued at around £400M. Based in the region, you will report directly to the Regional Discipline Lead (Civil).

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Costing:

Produce cost-effective design layouts that meet specification requirements and can be effectively constructed and commissioned. Ensure all associated costs (design time, materials, erection, etc.) are considered in the design process. Collaboration:

Coordinate designs with other disciplines, both internal and external, ensuring the smooth integration of design processes throughout the contract. Standards & Procedures:

Maintain and develop standard practices, efficient procedures, and processes to ensure the continued success of the department. Customer Satisfaction & Team Development:

Foster a customer-first culture and assist in the supervision and development of staff. Ensure a safe working environment for all team members. Sustainability & Safety:

Ensure designs account for environmental factors and comply with all relevant health and safety regulations.

Essential Skills & Qualifications: Engineering Expertise:

Demonstrable experience and knowledge of engineering principles, including structures, materials, geotechnics, hydraulics, and environmental engineering. Industry Knowledge:

Strong understanding of industry standards (BS, CESWI, WIMES), relevant legislation (Water Industry Act 1991, Water Quality Regulations 2016), and roles/responsibilities under CDM 2015. Water Treatment Expertise:

Experience in the design of water and sewage treatment plants, including management of relevant discipline aspects. Professional Qualifications:

Chartered membership of a professional institution, along with a relevant engineering degree. Leadership & Communication:

Proven ability to manage staff, rationalize designs, and present technical proposals clearly and confidently. Technical Skills:

Computer literacy, with the ability to assimilate and analyze large amounts of data.
