Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust (CCC) is looking to appoint a Principal Clinical Scientist: Radiotherapy/Specialist Services to a permanent post. The Radiotherapy Physics group is responsible for the physics support to the Radiotherapy Business Unit at CCC.

CCC has a large physics department with over 40 clinical scientists involved either in the provision of support to Imaging, Radiotherapy, including low-energy proton therapy, or in academic teaching. CCC has 10 Linear Accelerators (including a PPJV) across three sites with a Halcyon Linac offering Hypersight and SGRT due to come online in Spring 2025.

The postholder will be responsible for assisting the Lead Consultant Clinical Scientists for Radiotherapy and Specialised Services in providing scientific support as directed. The postholder will be State Registered as a Clinical Scientist with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).

The post holder will act as a Medical Physics Expert as defined by the ionising radiation (medical exposure) regulations with respect to all aspects of Radiotherapy.

Main duties of the job We are looking for a candidate with significant experience in radiotherapy physics, HCPC registered and a recognised Medical Physics Expert (on the RPA2000 MPE list).

The right applicant will be interested in supporting our services development and leading on service development and research projects. Our physicists are committed to flexible working practices to meet the needs of the service, and some evening and weekend working is required. The role will include making a significant contribution to the day-to-day work of the Radiotherapy Physics team.
