The Role We are looking for a Principal Consultant - Rail industry assessor / signalling to join our team. In this role, you will lead safety engineering and assessment services for rail engineering signalling projects. Your expertise will enhance safety protocols, risk assessment methodologies, and overall project quality. This role offers you the chance to further your technical knowledge in rail safety and to mentor junior consultants, sharing your experience to foster their growth. It's a unique opportunity to exhibit your leadership qualities while expanding your skill set in a collaborative and innovative environment. Key Responsibilities Leading complex rail safety assessment (AsBo/ISA & ApBo/NoBo/DeBo) services to engineering projects, applying methods and tools aligned with key standards such as EN50126, EN50129, IEC 61508, CSM-RA, CCS NTSN/TSI and CCS NTRs. Leading the bidding, winning, and successful delivery of commercially viable projects, collaborating with clients to understand their objectives and desired outcomes. Contributing to a diverse range of exciting projects, including safety assurance management and safety approvals for major infrastructure projects. Leading in safety assurance for new rail products, including ETCS/ERTMS, high-speed points systems, axle counters, and other signalling systems. Working on global projects from the UK, without the necessity of travel. Managing multiple activities and proactively balancing workload across different projects and customers. Leading interactive workshops with clients and stakeholders. Key Competencies and Experience Experience in delivering safety assessment and assurance services to rail projects, utilising methods and tools aligned with standards. Experience in assessing Signalling projects including ETCS, as AsBo/ISA and/or ApBo/NoBo/DeBo. Background in risk management, systems engineering and/or safety engineering. Prior experience in major rail infrastructure projects is highly desirable. Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and proactively prioritise workload. Support business development efforts by writing proposals, developing client relationships, and engaging with industry stakeholders.
