Principal Design Engineer (2 Positions Available) Permanent Role: £72,000 salary (before bonuses or OT) Location: Fully REMOTE, but will need to attend the Newcastle office 2-3 days a week for the first 1-2 months for training) Benefits: 26 days holiday (+ bank holidays), 10% pension contribution, 10% annual bonus, flexible working hours, and opportunities for career progression!

Your Role: As a Principal Design Engineer, you will lead the design of robust control and protection systems for National Grid substations and extend existing infrastructure. National Grid experience is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities: Provide innovative solutions as a technical lead for protection and control on the UK Transmission and Distribution network. Demonstrate strong problem-solving, fault-finding, and analytical skills. Deliver a high level of customer service to clients while maintaining the highest quality standards. Support the Protection Engineering team by mentoring and coaching other members to facilitate their growth. Implement Transmission protection and control systems with our end customers from various domains and disciplines. Manage relationships with National Grid and/or EPC customers, providing protection solutions for brownfield extensions or greenfield builds. Assess and optimise delivery processes to create efficient engineering workflows and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.

Essential Requirements: Minimum qualification of HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering. Extensive experience in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution Industry. Experience working on National Grid projects with knowledge of standards/specifications. Full UK driving license.

Desirable Requirements: Experience with industry-standard software tools for design, simulation, and testing, including SIPROTEC/DIGSI knowledge. TP141 Settings. NG CDAE.
