Advising on the ecological aspects of planning applications, including biodiversity net gain, mitigation strategies, and ecosystem services. Supporting the Council's response to the Environment Act, including biodiversity reporting and local policy updates. Collaborating on large-scale infrastructure projects, such as the Fens Reservoir development. Representing the Council in public inquiries, planning committees, and strategic meetings. Working with partners to promote sustainable land-use practices and ensure compliance with UK and EU environmental legislation. Essential Qualifications & Experience:
A relevant degree in Ecology or equivalent experience. Proven knowledge of biodiversity net gain, green infrastructure planning, and natural capital in the context of UK land-use planning. At least three years of post-graduate experience in a relevant role, ideally within a local authority or conservation organisation. Strong knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation and the English planning system. Membership in CIEEM (or equivalent qualifications/experience).
