Principal Engineer - Electrical Engineering (Power) . This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead complex projects, manage a team of engineers, and develop cutting-edge solutions within the defence sector.
Role Overview
Provide technical leadership and support to the Engineering Manager and external specialists in the development of platform power systems. Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team, ensuring the timely production of deliverables. Develop the team’s skills and competencies, while planning and scheduling project activities. Address and resolve issues to ensure project success. Design and deliver solutions to meet agreed timelines, costs, and quality standards. Develop and manage system or product requirements and acceptance criteria. Create and review technical documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and calculations. Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company standards, and relevant processes. Support design reviews, customer presentations, and integrated performance acceptance activities. Evaluate supplier documentation and support the development of project estimates and proposals. Provide technical input for build activities, defect resolution, and change management. Required Skills and Qualifications Strong understanding of power systems architecture, generation, and distribution (AC/DC). Knowledge of at least one area: power system modelling, power electronics, or fault monitoring. Familiarity with low voltage AC, DC distribution, lighting systems, and power protection.
