JOB OVERVIEW

To act as the lead engineer for a multi-disciplined team. To manage client relationships and assist in the ongoing development and growth of the business as a whole. To provide sound technical, design and contract management support on mechanical or electrical building services engineering disciplines, to ensure project requirements and clients' specifications are fully met. Offer advice and guidance to staff within the discipline.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS (Professional & Technical Expertise)

Results orientated individual with strong problem solving, technical realisation and coordination skills.

Has a relevant degree in electrical or mechanical building services engineering, or equivalent qualification, or sufficient suitable experience.

Able to demonstrate extensive experience of a wide range of technical areas.

Sound level of knowledge at Principal Engineer level and managing a team (see Roles and Responsibilities matrix for further details).

Associate or student member of an appropriate professional body, such as CIBSE, IET, MinstMC, MIHEEM.

Achieved or working towards Chartered Engineer status.

Technical knowledge in primary discipline and a thorough understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design through all stages of the design process.

Appreciation of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering and computer modeling in the design of buildings.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills both verbal and written. You will have proven ability in negotiating positive outcomes, resource planning, motivation and management.

Proven track record of setting and managing budgets, understanding profit and loss and making sound financial decisions.

Team-builder, able to support the team through training and mentoring.

Track record of having worked on a variety of Building Services Designs and the delivery of small to large scale projects in a variety of sectors, from concept designs through to completion, able to execute building services engineering activities within the budget and schedule, whilst maintaining technical integrity.

Computer literate including AutoCAD, NES, Cymap and Microsoft Office.

Current UK driving licence.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribute to the development and growth of the company by identifying new opportunities and potential areas for growth and also maintaining and developing existing client relationships.

Monitor and take responsibility for the profit and loss within the working team. Formulation of the monthly financial reports, both internal management accounts and external applications for payment.

Manage a multi-disciplinary design team to ensure successful preparation and delivery on project objectives, including providing technical support. Work with other Principal Engineers to ensure quality and timely operation delivery for clients.

Manage the training, development, appraisals and succession planning of staff within the team.

Keep up to date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline.

Compile specifications, drawings and relevant Contract documents and maintain the required technical quality of work, ensuring that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures.

Act as the lead engineer and liaise with the Client and external design team as necessary for successful delivery of projects. Provide electrical or mechanical building engineering services design to buildings and infrastructure.

Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process, maintain planning and cost control on all scopes. #J-18808-Ljbffr
